All Council meetings are open to the public. Council meetings are always held on a Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Council Chambers (Room 6) at Leigh Community Centre, 71-73 Elm Road, Leigh-on-Sea, SS9 1SP.
The Council has various standing Committees and Sub-Committees which all report back to Full Council Meetings. Committee meetings are held bi-monthly and sub-committees only meet when called. The Community Facilities Committee is responsible for all Council premises and assets including the operation of Leigh Community Centre. The Community Centre Sub-Committee meets when required to further discuss the Community Centre refurbishment. There is also a Leisure Development Sub-Committee that meets as required to discuss the developments of other council assets, such as the skate park.
The Planning, Licensing and Highways committee considers all planning and licensing applications and highway issues. This committee meets fortnightly.
The Policy & Resources Committee handles the governance and financial control of the Council. It is also responsible for staffing, grant awards, the volunteer programme and the Leigh Town Council magazine. A Personnel Sub-Committee is held when required to discuss staffing matters.
