Leigh-on-Sea Town Council and Leigh Lions celebration of the
Diamond Jubilee on
Monday, 4th June 2012 in Leigh Library Gardens
between 6pm and 11pm
Leigh Town Council and Leigh Lions' 'Jubileigh' Celebration for the Diamond Jubilee on Monday, 4th June proved to be a great success. The bells from St Clement's Church heralded the start of the celebration in Leigh Library Gardens where an evening of live music and entertainment drew crowds of around 700 people. Leigh Lions provided a BBQ which together with a beer tent sustained the crowds whilst they listened to Castle Point Lions Band, Mick Denny and Funky Voices Choir, whilst a close up magician enthralled all. The children enjoyed bouncy castles and a balloon modeller.
The highlight of the evening was the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon on St Clement's Church at 10.15pm.
This celebration would not have been possible without the assistance of local businesses and residents, particularly St Clement's Church, CKS Accountancy, the Fire Service and Apex Aerials who assisted with the installation of the Beacon. Leigh Town Council would like to thank them all for their support.
