Last year a popular retired bus route was reinstated along Southend seafront by Go Ahead London , and it will be returning again this year! The service will be available over the May Bank Holiday and then will officially start from 9th June until 1st September.
A timetable for the route can be found here.
Route 68 will start from outside Adventure Island and will be heading west along the esplanade of Westcliff, and the old shelter in Chalkwell.
Tightly squeezing under the bridge within Chalkwell, it then heads along the Grand Parade to Leigh-On-Sea Station with a stop just prior opposite The Ship pub, allowing customers to access the footbridge to the old high street and Bell Wharf Beach.
Then, after serving Leigh-On-Sea Station, the route circles up the hill to the main part of Leigh; the Post Office and Broadway, to serve the local community there.
The route then heads back down the front all the way to Southend Pier, and then continues to the historic Kursaal, and then comes back to Adventure Island to terminate.
