Seeing the Future Your Way

Are you living with sight loss? Do you care for someone with visual impairment? Then Southend Blind Welfare Organisation wants to hear from you.

Southend Blind Welfare Organisation (SBWO) wants to hear from visually impaired people across Southend. The independent Southend charity offers practical support to those living with sight issues in and around Southend. It is asking for people across the borough with experience of visual impairment, to take part in a survey to help deliver services and support that really meets their needs. The SBWO survey, entitled Seeing the Future Your Way, has been designed to align to the RNIB’s national strategy and criteria.

In 2014, the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) had 1,110 Southend residents registered with either slight or severe sight impairment and an estimated further 6000 plus people living with sight loss.  Southend Blind Welfare Organisation can offer support for those just beginning to lose their sight, providing specialist equipment and advice, and then continues to help those living with visual impairment by running clubs and workshops and arranging training. The survey results will inform the charity’s future strategy on a local level, enabling it to assist visually impaired people with everyday life and take into account individuals’ needs.

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes and can be completed over the phone or by post. To take part and make your voice heard, please contact the charity by emailing info@sbw.org.uk, by calling 01702 342131 or by writing to the charity at 117, Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff-on-Sea, SS0 7ES. More information about the charity can be found at www.sbw.org.uk.
